Clear Brackets

Clear ceramic braces are made of translucent material. They are most popular with adult patients due to their cosmetic appeal. Made from a hard ceramic material, these braces won’t stain or discolor. With the same performance as metal braces, many patients are now choosing the clear option. The drawbacks to ceramic brackets are that they are more fragile, and the elastic ties can discolor between orthodontic visits.

Traditional Metal Braces

This is probably what you think of when you picture someone wearing braces: small metal brackets bonded to the front of the teeth. A thin wire runs through the brackets and is attached on either end to metal bands that go around a back molar.
